Winemaking
All Neleman wines are crafted from certified organic grapes. We only add Sulphur dioxide (SO2) as a preservative to maintain the wine's freshness. The wine is cleared with bentonite, a natural clay.
Absolutely! All Neleman wines are vegan-friendly as we do not use animal protein to clear our wines.
Yes, all Neleman wines are certified organic. We do not harvest or use grapes treated with pesticides or herbicides. Our practices are annually audited by the CAECV, the organization that certifies the European organic seal.
We do not suffer from major pests except for the grapevine moth and we manage it using pheromone-based sexual confusion techniques.
Yes, all Neleman wines are gluten-free.
Yes, our winemakers decided to use Sulphur in our wines to maintain the quality from the time of bottling until you open it. Quality standards mandate the use of sulphur, but organic regulations limit the amount we can add. Consistent with our philosophy, we often add as little as possible, typically up to a maximum of 1/3 of the amount permitted in conventional wines.
Product information
For Neleman wines with a twist cap (Helix cork), you can find the vintage on the black and white striped banderol at the top of the bottle. For wines with a standard capsule, the vintage is indicated on either the front or back label.
We are committed to not only offsetting but also actively reducing our carbon footprint throughout our entire production and bottling process. Our winery is nestled between a lavender field and a biodynamic garden, both integral to our efforts to cultivate a unique micro-ecosystem teeming with biodiversity. These spaces also enable us to repurpose waste and byproducts. Furthermore, we harness solar energy and operate electric vehicles, reinforcing our dedication to lessening our environmental impact.
A Helix cork is a unique design that allows you to open the bottle by hand without needing a corkscrew. We use this cork for most of our wines.
At Neleman, the zebra's distinctive pattern is more than a design element. It's a powerful symbol of our values. Just as no two zebras share the exact same stripes, we celebrate the vast spectrum of individuality. Our commitment goes beyond the vineyards, championing both biodiversity and the rich tapestry of human differences. The zebra stripes found across our packaging represent this profound appreciation of diversity. It's at the very heart of who we are and what Neleman stands for.
